Middle East timeline (and what's going on in Europe and North America)--Gilgamesh (1800 BCE)

Gilgamesh--two backgrounds: historical figure--2500 BCE, king of Uruk and rebuilder of temple to Ninlil (goddess of the wind with connection to grain) in Nippur, see images of Nippur: world map, political map of middle east, map, reconstruction, ruins

background literature: long oral history, tablet fragments date from 1800 BCE, in library collection (belonging to the Assyrian king Ashurbanipal) 700 BCE, see images of Ninevah and clay tablets
