Title: Self Portrait, 2D Mixed Media/Collage
The artwork that I chose to do is a magazine collage self-portrait. I chose to use a photo as a reference because I liked the image of myself in a peaceful thoughtful mood. Compositional, I placed the figure to the side to add more interest. I decided to create a collage of magazine tears because I thought it would be unique and fun to do. I first had to draw the picture, and pick out all the different magazine colors. Then, I focused on the scarf and all the different colors that it needed. Next, I focused on the values of the face and the different highlights and shadows it has. Finally, I created the hair textures with all the different colors and highlights it has. The shirt wasn't a big focus because it was only grays. In this picture with all the different colors and highlights, it took a lot of time and effort to get it done; the scarf has multiple colors and directions, the face has different highlights, and the hair has different shades. I am happy with the outcome. It represents me in a unique creative way.
