Title: Bees on the Fountain, 2D Mixed Media/Collage
My favorite parts of nature are bees. I have a water fountain in my backyard where bees come and drink water every day in the summer. They are friendly, beautiful and inspiring. I enjoy taking pictures of the bees so I used one of the pictures and turned it into mixed media art. I was inspired by Jane Perkins, an artist that uses recycled materials to make art come to life. I used colorful beads and buttons to give it the bright and fun effect but still made sure I put values like using similar colors of beads or contrasting beads in my mixed media art. Finding the right size and color of the beads and buttons was difficult because it meant to research other options of beads that could be used. As I was getting to the bees, I realized I needed something more. So I made the bees a relief look with 3-D wings and added antennas. This was a new project that I tackled. I had a lot of fun creating this with the colors I had. It is important to use memories and ideas we love to create a memory of artwork.
