Title: Emotionally Trapped, Digital Photography

Expressive Qualities: My intention in creating this piece was to display a variety of emotional qualities while using my knowledge of imaging and photoshop. I wanted to communicate to the viewer the intense feelings that come from the girls position and her expressions inside of the eye. The image portrays the girl struggling with internal conflicts and looking for a way out.
Composition: The subject matter in this photo contains a close up image of an eye combined with an image of a girl leaning up against a brick wall. They come together to create emotional and artistic qualities.
Process and Problem Solving: In designing this picture, I took two images of my friend and combined them into one. This consisted of a close up image of her eye and an image of her positioned in a brick hallway. I put a black and white filter on the pictures to add to the emotional qualities, and I then photoshopped them together using transparencies to portray that the eye is seeing the girl in the hall.
Discovery: In creating this piece, I discovered how the right cropping and positioning of a picture can bring out its true emotional qualities.
